ANCHORS FOR THE UNDERDOG

The Objective...

Anchors for the Underdog is a music project offering constructive lyrics for a wide-ranging audience. Because, whether it be in a relationship context, or in what people set out for in their lives, everyone faces obstacles. The music on this project does not seek to minimise those difficulties, but to recognise them, while still encouraging movement forward with positive determination. And, an anchor is what allows people to do that!

The Music...

With memorable melodies and an easy listening soundscape (yet with modern band backing), we trust that you'll find the musical side to your liking! We can assure you that every amount of thought has gone in tothe recording process. Mostly, the idea is to bring to you outstanding songwriting, backed up with creatively inspired instrumentation, and all pieced together delicately so that there is just the right temperature in the treatment of the song.

The Plans and the Progress...

At this stage, what we are able to release to you are good quality demo recordings, although plans are in place to move into full quality recordings, with some songs ready for commercial release in 2010, and others possibly in 2011. Recording has been a long process (but a good one!), and with a few rewrites of lyrics and additional vocals, we now feel that we're close to what will be a top quality end product.

ANDY MILLER BIO

Andrew Miller is a new singer songwriter set to make waves in the music scene. Raised in South Taranaki, New Zealand, Andy’s musical roots began taking shape when he moved to the Waikato, before a stint teaching English in Korea. It was then that he decided to invest in his passion for music, and to take it to the public.

After training at the Hillsong International Leadership College, in Sydney, Australia, Andy traveled to Brazil to begin production on his EP, which includes the singles, “Broken”, “Go”, and other potential songs for radio. Calling in local Brazilian musicians of note, and then returning to New Zealand, to upgrade the project at Beaver Studios, Auckland, Andy’s debut recordings look to be a breath of fresh air in the congested world of same-sounding music types.

With mainstream and alternative influences including bands such as Coldplay, Oasis, and Death Cab for Cutie, there are also several light touches reminiscent of the likes of James Blunt, David Crowder, and the Small Town Poets. Listeners can therefore expect a unique, beautiful, musical experience with the combination of a polished sound, intelligent and well thought out lyrics, and Andy's distinct vocal style and sincerity, bringing it all together.

It's a package unlikely to be matched by the industry any time soon, and Andy’s purpose for sharing his talent is clear: “My greatest desire in songwriting is to speak meaning for those who are searching for it. By this, I don’t mean coming up with nice answers. Life is more a poem than it is a textbook. In my life I ask questions. I struggle through situations. I have doubts, and pain just like everybody else… and yet there is also hope.”

If you are looking for music for the soul, Andy Miller will not disappoint.
